Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Mini and Root to Android Gingerbread 2.3.3

On June 1st, @SamFirmware post on their twitter that Android 2.3.3 for Samsung Galaxy Mini has just release. When I click their link at http://www.samfirmware.com/apps/blog/entries/show/7241066-exclusive-galaxy-mini- that was real but the ROM is for Europe version Galaxy Mini.

 

I’m not using Samsung Galaxy Mini but that phone is using by my wife since 3 month ago, I was frustrating with LG Optimus One that still with no GingerBread upgrade until this month.

So I’d like to share about how to upgrade Samsung Galaxy Mini to Gingerbread 2.3.3 Europe version ROM from SamFirmware.Com

Please read this note :

I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, or any broken with your Samsung Galaxy Mini. So this Guide was success and work without any problem for me, if you still want to try, just do it.

  2. Download Firmware : http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-s5570.htm (you need to sign up first)

Preparation

  1. Download Firmware 2.3.3 Europe version : http://hotfile.com/dl/119485906/9f71260/S5570XXKPF.rar.html (password: samfirmware.com )
  2. Flashing Guide: http://www.samfirmware.com/SVC%20Android/S5830%20Flashguide.pdf
  3. Driver if needed : http://www.mediafire.com/?0hq8xigi9r7f7c9#

Lets Go

1. Please read carefully the guide “S5830 Flashguide.pdf” I just follow that guide step by step and done with no problem.

2. Extract file S5570XXKPF.rar (pass: samfirmware.com) and you will get list file below :

  • APBOOT_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5
  • CODE_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5
  • CSC_S5570SERKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5
  • GT-S5570 KPF Release Note ENG.xlsx
  • MODEM_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02.tar.md5
  • Odin Multi Downloader v4.38.exe
  • TASS_v1.0.ops

3. Start Odin Multi Downloader v4.38.exe and fill with below information in each box :

  • OPS : TASS_v1.0.ops
  • BOOT : APBOOT_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5
  • PHONE : MODEM_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02.tar.md5
  • PDA : CODE_S5570XXKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5
  • CSC : CSC_S5570SERKPF_CL189639_REV02_user_mid_true.tar.md5

below the capture for stepping the OPS, BOOT, Phone, PDA and CSC box

 

4. Turn Off your Samsung Galaxy Mini

5. Turn On it again into Download Mode with pressing (Power + Middle Button + Volume Down in the same time until displaying Download Mode in screen)

7. Plug Micro USB Cable/Data Cable that matching with your Galaxy Mini

8. Wait until Odin Multi DOwnload Manager on “COM PORT MAPPING” Box displaying Yellow color with “1(COM 31)” information like screen shot below

 

9. If you got the yellow box so you are ready to push “START” button to the next step

10. Just wait until you get the “Blue BOX” displaying “PASS” like screen shot below :

 

11. Unplug your Data Cable

Now your Samsung Galaxy Mini will be to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread

 

 

Little review by me

1. The screen display smoother than before in Froyo

2. Faster than using Froyo with install app from market Go Launcher, Dolphin Browser Mini, Facebook 4 android, Seesmic 4 Android, Go Contact, Go SMS

3. More Battery Power

 

ROOTING your Samsung Galaxy Mini Gingerbread 2.3.3

  1. Download File : http://www.4shared.com/file/xFXkOvCr/ISO-8859-1__upd_1.html
  2. Copy to SD Card
  3. Turn Off your Galaxy Mini
  4. Turn On it again with pressing Power + Middle Key and then will be entering Recovery mode
  5. Choose Update From SD CARD
  6. Wait the Process and then Reboot
  7. If Rooting Process works, will be Super User icon in App Drawer

    Does rooting work also on latest 2.3.4 update from samfirmware.com ? I flashed that ginger without a problem, but having issues rooting, can't enter recovery mode.

    I'm pressing first middle key, then pressing power, holding both and waiting, nothing is happening, just samsung.com logo apears, sometimes twice.

      Maybe above rooting process will not work with 2.3.4 version. Until now my Galaxy Mini still with 2.3.3 version.

      Maybe several days later i will try that version.

      Download mode : Pressing at the same time Middle Key Volume Down Power Button, hold until entering Download Mode

    thank for a lot for information, but i still have problem in make partition on my sd card, i have rebuilt 2 partition first partition with exe3, and second with fat32 but after that my sdcard wasn't to read from my ginger, can you help me to fixing my problem, pls? thank for before

      yes u can…but this is europe version…so i think there is no arabic language…i'm from indonesia, so i need asian version, but i still can upgrade to gingerbread europe version…

      you can push the middle key (home button) and the power button in the same time but before you do it.. shutdown your phone..

      after you push both of key..
      the recovery mode will be show

      -push volume button down and up to change..
      -push middle key to enter

      chose reboot.. and enter..

    i was upgrade my galaxymini to gingerbread version.. i found the tutorial from the other website and got the file from there too.its seem like ur post too.

    but i’m confuse.. that blog said that this is europe version but when i upgrade my phone.. wow.. i see it’s looks like russia version with full of cyliric alphabeth.. but actually i can change this language in the setting area LOL :D

    i download from samfirmware to hotfile all files but i cant find on my pc.when i clic on ops file there is not any where ops file untill i try to find in other places in pc.i ll all ready try to download again again and again but nevr find ops or tass file in the computer…..can anybody help me pls……. or more

      it was GB 2.3.3, when you upgrade to GB 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com you can still use OPS file included in S5570XXKPF

        ill try many time but i think it not store on pc its in browser haw can i ll save on desktop or something in pc memory be cos when ill open the ..odin loder.. and ill click on ops file there is not find any where on pc or click on boot or one pckeg or any file but not ther any file can u give me instruction of the saving file i have vista 64 bit…any way thanks for last answer….and thanks for reading my broken english…..
