ZTE MF627 is HSDPA Modem 3,6 Mbps cheapest in the world :-D. in Indonesia you can buy this modem with only below Rp. 300.000, it’s about 30 USD.
ZTE MF627 made by ZTE Corporation, but by default bundled with Three Mobile Broadband UK, so you can see “Three” label in the modem.
Especially in Indonesia, you can get this modem and unlock by default so you can use it with any GSM operator in many store with variatif price.
I’m not using this modem for long time, but I just test it for my friends, and I give recommendation if anyone would like to use this modem.
By default this modem using Globe Visibility Connection Manager software for access manager, and by default not support for Windows 7, but if you are install it with internet connection, Windows 7 automatically search for the driver over internet.
I got information when googling and get this link from Three UK. Based on that information Three had better interface access manager for ZTE MF627 and more user friendly than the old version.
Below the simple guide for changing the default software inside the modem dongle.
1. go to this link : http://www.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/Getting_started/Detail?content_aid=1220455869927
2. Download file Modem Upgrader – For Windows 7 Only, it’s about 23 MB, and for your attention it’s only for Windows 7.
3. Extract the downloaded file : MF627_OneClickUpgradeToolV1.00.02.zip, and you will get “MF627_OneClickUpgradeToolV1.00.02.exe”
4. Double klik file MF627_OneClickUpgradeToolV1.00.02.exe, and don’t forget to plug the ZTE MF627 dongle to your USB.
Before you continue process, make sure your power connection is stable, if you are using PC, better you take the UPS, or better you are using Laptop with battery inside and connect to electrical adapter.
5. Just wait for the application searching for your ZTE MF627 modem, like below captured :

if the connection success, the “DOWNLOAD” button is ready to click
6. Just follow the instruction until finish. (Sorry I can’t give you more capture, because I forgot capture the process last time, when the modem in my hand. But the procedure is so simple, I believe everyone can do that. Please do it correctly and read the instruction on screen.
7. After finish “One Click Upgrade” for ZTE MF 627, please unplug the dongle first, then plug it again. you will get the auto play that the default Globe Visibility Connection Manager software has benn Change to 3Connect Access Manager.

Don’t be afraid with the upgrade process, because the modem still unlock and could be use with any GSM Operator. In Indonesia i tried with Axis and Telkomsel Flash, and 3 too, but the signall is poor in my location.
Connection Configuration
If you are not using Three UK, you have to change the network configuration based on your GSM operator for the first, and below is the guide :

on the top click Settings –> Advanced settings

and then, click “Connections”, will open below menu :

For the first there’s a default bearer from 3, i suggest if you are using different operator, just delete it from “Delete” button, and to add new Bearer click “Add” button, will open menu below :

Type the name of your GSM operator, and click “Properties” button on the left.

Type your APN from your GSM operator, and just skip to the tab “Security”

Type Username, Password from your GSM Operator, then click OK button to finish.
Ok the all process is finish and now your ZTE MF627 modem will be look simplier than before. if you plug the dongle from any computer, new 3connect will apear and install it for you, and good bye for Globe Visibility Connection Manager software.

Mas Mico, waktu saya jalankan file MF627_OneClickUpgradeToolV1.00.02.exe kok berhenti cuma sampai di "port information NULL" saja ya? tombol downloadnya tdk bisa di klik (persis spt di gambar pd point 5).

kalau anda sudah mencoba lebih dari 2 kali saya rasa anda tidak perlu mencoba untuk yang ke3 kali. Mungkin perlu juga anda coba menjalankan proses upgrade tersebut pada komputer lain. Siapa tau ada bentrok dengan aplikasi2 lain pada komputer yang anda gunakan saat ini. Saya alhamdulillah prosesnya jalan lurus mas, tidak ada belok2an…..he..he..

halo mico.. sy jg googling ttg driver modem ini yg kompatibel dgn windows7 lalu ketemunya blog anda.
tp saya mengalami masalah yg sama dgn komen2 yg sudah diatas. tombol downloadnya abu terus, engga muncul2. padahal sdh sy coba restart, uninstal globe visibilitynya, lalu saya launch lg program yg sy download diatas itu. kira2 ada konflik dgn apa ya sehingga tdk bs terdeteksi?
terus terang bingung juga sih jawabin beberapa pertanyaan yg error, saya sendiri ketika trial that version from 3 uk website, there's no problem with my modem and with that dashboard version.
Ketika flashing saya menggunakan windows7 tanpa konek ke internet. Jalankan step2 yang saya capture di atas, dan sukses.

Will the dongle continue to work after this upgrade on my other PC as well, which is a XP? Please help. Your blog is the most sensible one on this topic in all of my search on web about making this dongle run with Win7
i'm not try yet in xp, first buying and tried in my 7 like the capture above. Honestly i really like 3 dashboard interface and its work on my ZTE and Huawei Modem like i posted in my blog.

mas..mo nanya modem ane kok ga bisa detek HSDPA ataupun 3G dengan kartu 3 (padahal dengan modem teman bisa muncul hsdpa dan tes downoad OK). os ane win7 ultimate
sebelumnya saya pernah mengupgrade modem autoupdate (win 7 dan kartu im2) dan tampilan managernya berubah…setelah diupgrade gak pernah lagi dapat hsdpa ataupun 3G yang ada gprs dan umts aje..mohon pencerahannya…makasih
